Definitely 501X Damper for the DB01. There is actually a DB01 shock set that is the 501X dampers with a couple of small changes.
These shocks are not difficult to assemble - parts quality is very good so that is not a problem. These are "aeration" shocks so need to be built with a small amount of air in them.
To get them roughly right, when you fill them with oil, the surface of the oil should be concave when the piston is down (ie don't fill completely). When the cap is on and you compress the piston, it should have even resistance all the way (not get stiffer), and you may hear a tiny squeak at the top of the travel. No more than that though. This will give smooth shocks.
For extra precision you can drill out the top caps and fit a small bleed screw. Not sure if the screws come in the DB01 set but they do come in 501s. I don't think many people do this though.
