it still is geared towards the 1 lap wonders.
if you are the best RACER ever, you can pull anyones pants down and spank their ass to pull a move, but you are never fast enough to get into the 'top' final.
its possible that you could run the 4 finals with bump up 2 finals for the winner, bump up 1 final for 2nd, drop 2 finals for last, drop 1 final for 9th, the middle lot 'stay' for the next round of finals.
the key would be to score consistant runs and win the last final, or keep bumping up to get into the 'main' for the last round to have a shot at winning.
and you would certainly try to keep out of trouble in the early finals to stay in your final
