I own a couple of both cars - the thing thats better about the Durga is less maintenance / cleaning etc. The cell layout is better for lipos as well.
I don't think there's any doubt the 501X is a better race car - doesn't mean it's always better on the track, but it's more adjustable for the track conditions.
In Italy I chose to run the Durga instead of the 501X - but I had to dremel the chassis to get proper suspension travel (the wishbones hit the chassis on short wheelbase setting) and dremel the hinge pin blocks to get some anti-squat.
