Why not, voltages are much the same, do not let the lipo voltage drop to low or you wont be able to recharge it, newer esc's have a cut out built in or you can fit one, or just dont over run the car untill the battery is flat.
You will need a lipo charger and if you are racing at club they will need to allow lipo - using and charging, search on oOple for lots more info.
