That's funny, because I also started back into the sport after 17-18 years absence (I forget exactly). Now that budget is less limiting than when I was a teenager...
I went with a B44 (best bang for your buck in 4wd IMO), with 2 lipo packs (they are allowed where I race; if they are where you will be racing, I strongly recommend them), a hyperion charger (does it all pretty much and is cheap) and a Mamba max 6900kv setup (they are allowed where I race and a great deal for the price) which is insanely fast. I think any of the cars you mentioned will be race worthy. Maybe parts availability should be considered here in your choice?
I was amazed at how fast I got back into the groove of racing! My racing skills were still there. It's a small club, but within 1 race I was back being competitive up there with the leaders posting some of the fastest times. Only thing needed is to improve consistency between laps!
