Well, I race 1:8 TR. Once up to working temperature after approx. 6 laps it should stay constant. It's more of a safety measure.

If your muffler gasket goes, dent/broken muffler, main needle rotates, lost 2nd gear etc... temperature may be affected. You could then at least adjust it at the next pit stop in order to finish the race.

For practise it would be great, especially if you don't have a mechanic.
