the shocks are the main thing, and i expect the rtr is full time 4wd and doesn't come with any one way options in the kit. other than that i think they are pretty similar.
As Scouser said, have a good read through the Kyosho section as there are lots of threads there about the rtr kit and upgrading it.
The main things you will want are the front alloy brace for the hinge pins and possibly an alloy front shock mount holder. the other tip was to get an atomic carbon front shock tower and fit it back to back with the kit one so it is twice as thick.
Rear universal driveshafts would be worth while too.
Make sure you get the new triple cap shocks from the latest kits, not the original lazer shocks. The new ones are much better and don't leak.
