According to a major oil company i worked for last year there is as much oil in the north sea now as they thought they had back in the 70`s. Granted, its not as easy to get out as there is less pressure down there now. but there are ways to raise the pressure and make the baby gush

There is not a shortage of oil, at the moment most platforms run at about 50-70% capacity. Why create an excess of oil when you can keep the price of oil high by keeping it a supply and demand situation
even if there is still oil out there - which there is, without a doubt, don't you think that we - and those in charge - should be doing as much as possible to wean the economy off fossil fuels?

it's going to run out soon (in our lifetime). if something isn't done, we'll find ourselves in a mad max film.

it's pretty bonkers that a lot of us have our lives built almost entirely around the availability of a tin box, propelled by controlled explosions in a smaller tin box, fuelled by black sludge produced over millions of years of heat and pressure.
