It has been a while since I ran the Kyosho but I could find no difference between the kit silvers and the supposedly stiffer "short" #75 bright green springs, I think one of the measured spring charts posted somewhere on here found that the kit #70 were actually stiffer.
Cut down dark greens do seem pretty stiff to me though, I know a few people used them a couple of seasons ago.

but it does matter about the distance between the coil's
look at kyosho's for instance.coil's are furthest apart,same distance(stiffest spring)and on the softest spring,the coil's are closest together,same distance apart
think we'll beg to differ on this one sosidge
