To be honest the money isn`t really on the rigs, its in the design offices and the commissioning side of things. Offshore as a staff man your probably looking at 55k but remember you pay 40% tax on 20k of that
I go offshore occassionally for commissioning and surveys but i have a clause in my contract to say that i want an extra £100 a day for the inconvenience and also a minimum of 12 hours pay
The oil industry is good right now and there is a lot of money to be made if you want it.
