If it is just for fun then I probably wouldn't bother with any options at first (just upgrade if/when you break).

If you are looking for an easy build though DEFINITELY get a hex screw kit of some sort. The standard phillips head screws are a real pain.

Since you want easy speed focus your budget on the brushless motor combo - get a good quality sensored setup and it should be a good basis for anything you want to do (including racing in the future perhaps).

I think £400-£500 budget will still be a shade tight if you are starting again from scratch, especially if you go down the quality brushless route, because you need radio gear and chargers etc too. You might just be able to do it though.
