Why don't you just disconnect the cut off from your receiver and speedo, then plug your speedo into the receiver instead, as if the cut off wasn't in the car any more?

This would bypass the cut off but still leave everything in place (and no soldering as a bonus!), it wouldn't matter if your batteries dropped <6V then, as although the cut off would detect it as the power feed wires are still connected, it wouldn't be able to do anything about it as it isn't connected to the receiver any more to cut the throttle.

Just an idea.
