Depends on the car where the electrics are located as they are what need protecting not the internals of the car, I havn't had much expierience outdoors in the wet with offroad but i've drowed my saloon car which is much more open to water than offroad cars and all i did was put the reciever in a baloon and put abit of bluetack on the speedo set up buttons and wire tabs and had no problems at all and the car had water all over the insides,

For the one time I did run offroad outdoors in the wet I put duck tape over the area where the chassis and shell touch to stop water getting in the gaps and put abit around the front end and also used abit of cotton inside the front end and used abit of bluetack on the reciever, speedo and motor
