I knew i had the flat side out for a reason lol but i went back to double check and the instructions show the pin closer to the bearing side than the wheel and the bevel clears the outer bearing race...

Strange they list the shock pistons as #1 and #2 but the pistons in the kit are numbered #3 #4 and #5 , go figure?
