Why ball diffs?

Hey guys

Recently replaced my old Baja Champ with a Baldre. And Im wondering... why ball diffs? Whats the great advantage of these compared to the old style cogwheel based diff?

Im going to jump in and ask the same question for an eZrun 9t with 35A ESC :)

The hobbywing site doesn't really give any hints in regards to gearing of 1/10 4WDs.
