New X6Sq Owner

Hi,

I have just bought an X6 which I think is the squared version, however I must admit I do not know what the difference is!

Can anyoe advise on a few queries below:
  • Is there a gear diff that fits?
  • What pistons / springs should i use in the losi shocks for offroad Astro use? e.g Coventry
  • Is there a good base setup?
  • The car has a lot of brass so would also appreciate feedback on how much to use as a good starting point
I will be using a losi 6.5 brushless and stick lipo's across the back.

Also what spares are from the b4 and X6 specific?

Hi there,

As far as I'm aware there is no gear diff that will fit into the X6 - the SC14/B4.1 is too wide for the casing and I believe it is metric anyway. It's worth putting some ceramic balls into the normal diff, nothing wrong with the originals but ceramic make it smoother (I use vampire balls).

As for a base setup, check out Big E's setup sheets (http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...?t=548&page=16). At the moment I use red pistons all round with 37.5wt/black spring front and 35wt/pink spring back. Weight wise it's a matter of preference - I still run stick across the back, brass under lipo/speedo and 2 bars behind the servo. Recently though I have used a plastic front bulkhead but drilled a hole and added the extra weights that come with a brass bulkhead.

The car is very strong, front end is from a b4 - so wishbones/bulkhead/top plates are the normal things to go. The rear end is mainly Xfactory, the only things that tend to go is the odd hingepin/wishbone and wing mounts.

Is the ball diff in the X6 gear box a B4 or B4.1 item ???

cheers

As a beginner with an X6² I broke nearly every front part, but as it's all B4 it's easy to borrow or find spares. If you have blue aluminum trailing axle they will break, replace with X-Factory tough-as-nails axles.

The only X-Factory spare you'll need apart from rear hingepins and wing mounts is a rear triangle just in case, if I remember correctly they are symmetrical (good idea).

Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
