First race at WORM.....GORILLA RACING Rd1!!!

http://www.worm-racing.co.uk/wp-cont...a-racing-2.jpg

Saturday 5th May...GORILLA RACING Round 1

So called as it's really just a bit of fun! We have a venue, and we have just enough of the essential items in place to hold a race and start collecting some funds to finish the job off properly over the next few months.

A lot of work has already been done, and the track area will be cleared and smoothed off as best we can, and a few fun racing features will be in place. The surface will be a mixture of astro, carpet, mud, dirt and gravel...so it will be a bit weather dependant...and a bit rough and ready to be honest. BUT...we can guarantee it will be a whole lot of fun!

Racing is open to all electric 1/10th & 1/16th scale classes, so 4wd, 2wd, Short course and micros (though to be honest micros could be a bit more of a challenge on the surface as is).

Timing is via the usual AMB PT system which we already have setup and ready to go.

Cost will be £10 for the day, for as many classes as you like

***CLICK HERE*** to visit the event page on our club website and book yourself in!

And the bigger plan that the funds are going towards...

A fully offroad featured astroturf track of a standard to run regional meetings in the South West region of the BRCA.

We will be a fully affiliated BRCA club and will ultimately run regular club meetings throughout the summer, and maybe even some winter running if the weather allows.

Expect an ad hoc calender of events in 2012 where will will just fit in as much as possible around other meetings and clubs that are already booked up for this year.

Expect a full racing calender in 2013 that will be organised in cooperation with the other local clubs and meetings.

So in other news gathered this evening to update you for Saturday...

Whilst at the track to help unload the astro that was delivered this evening I did learn the following...

Our track area has great drainage it would seem!!! Mendips Onroad track next door had loads of massive areas of water all over it...But I could only find 1 puddle on our offroad track, and it was less than a foot square!!! After all the rain we've had I call that a result!

But...

That was not the best news...

...We have organised for the trackside cafe to be open on Saturday!!! :woot::woot:

So typical breakfast and snack type goodies will be available throughout the day

Sand...actually....although we will probably need to get a bit of a brush on it over the next few days, it seems to have settled in or washed away with the weather over the last few days to be honest! So looking ok on that front.

There's gonna be a little bit on the track to begin with, where we haven't yet had time to deal with it, but certainly not massive amounts thankfully so it won't be a prob.

mrspeedy 02-05-2012 01:11 PM

The track actually looked really tidy last night despite the floods of rain we had earlier in the day, the track looked almost dry :woot: so should be perfect for Saturday ...

Just a couple of things to add ... classes are pretty much anything 10th or 16th .... so 10th 2wd, 10th 4wd, Short course, and Micro.

......and the Cafe is ace !! most cooked burgers or rolls, tea and coffee ... I sampled the egg and bacon butty a couple weeks ago  lush !!

Pits

Are you pitting in the on road pits or out on the grass?

I will bring the shop along just wanted to check if I need the tent or not?

blue_pinky 02-05-2012 01:45 PM

Reckon we'll be figuring out pitting on the day, I'd assume you could pit on the car park or on the grass as space allows, not actually sure on using the onroad tracks pits to be honest...so we'll check that out for saturday too. Plenty of space to use in total though so I'd bring a tent along in case the weather doesn't totally play ball :)
