Cut-down Bug on buggy?

Just been browsing some pics on Tamiyaclub and saw some (Dutch?) drivers running these shells...

Any ideas what this is?

I think its the new V4 Proline BullDog! :lol:

Maybe its an HPI beetle shell??

Do you do this for fun or for a reason? How's the fit around the edges of the chassis?

It's more of a (massive) mid cab. It's more stable going into fast corners, but then the higher center of gravity starts messing stuff up. Not to bad, but enough to notice a small difference in handling.

Proline already do a bug shell for the crawlers ;)

I think these look cool, but not as cool as this;

Based on a shortened ali pan RC10 - i'm sure something similar could be achieved with a modern B4 where the shell could better enclose the shocks for a more realistic baja-bug look? (like Tamiya's Blitzer Beetle I guess?)

Nice back flips Janus :thumbsup:

neallewis 27-04-2012 01:26 PM

Fantastic backflips, looks like the body helped!
That track sure is dirty, but love the big cow shed idea for a track location.

That proline body is a clone of the hardbody tamiya sandscorcher, the original which I wish I still had. Though to be fair mine did get a hammering in the 80's.

That picture from the first post looks familiar! :lol:

Anyway, I find the bug-buggies funny looking, and a nice diversion to what's out there. It takes some getting used to for some though! Who started this trend by the way? :p

We used 1/8 scale body's that were narrowed a long time ago, but they were very fragile since it was 2 halves glued together.
€ric found there Kamtec versions about 2 years ago, and since then the "Battle-Bugs" have returned to the track
