2wd handling characteristics battery layout

hi was wondering about 2wd handling characteristics in mid motor config as there are some buggies which use saddle pack side by side layout and some use stick pack layout. how would each compare and differ in handling thanx

It's more to do with the overall weight distribution.

If the corner weights are the same then the buggy will handle very similarly in all layouts.
The bigest difference is when the weight is spread out wide of the centre line, the further out the more it will encourage the car to roll around .... good for generating grip in low traction conditions, bad for fast direction changes.

As a rule of thumb the buggy will feel more nimble with the weight closest to the centreline.

ok thanks for input.was thinking about it today came up with saddle layout would have more rear traction and less steering, where as stick pack layout would have more steering and less rear traction.anymore thoughts on this?(loads of team drivers on this forum there input would be gratefull)

I looked at this when designing Scorpion and again when looking at shorty packs for Scorpion.

Modern brushless ESCs (when you include fan and bulky wire certainly) are heavy enough to offset the weight of our relatively light LiPos

Running a stick with the ESC off to the side actually puts the car out of balance by quite a chunk ...
