Looks like a 48dp pitch spur.

No idea on the gear pitch i'm afraid - it looks like 48dp but i'm sure you've tried that.... it might be the odd fine pitch that Tamiya use?

The Intruder looks great :wub - just wondered if you were using a low-voltage cut-off unit with those LiPo cells running the vintage brushed gear?

Pacman 11-04-2012 05:45 PM

Hi Ken,

If it's got the same size pitch as the Tamiya cars in the 90's (Mantaray, Topforce etc) then it's probably 0.6 mod. I used to get my pinions for my Mantaray from RW racing.

Cheers

Its definitely not 48dp as I,ve tried that and its making a lot of noise

Derbydan: never have run a low voltage cut off with any of my brushed gear
toch wood never had a problem
Thats a 14D MG exterminator in the car with a tekin 411-G2, got a good turn of speed.

Pacman, yes I was thinking maybe 0.6 module as well, was there a 0.5 as well?

racingdwarf 11-04-2012 08:10 PM

When I ran my intruder back in the day I used my normal pinions, same as I used on my RC10 at the time:confused:, good car, just don't use it on a cold day, the plastic is brittle I used to smash the plastic between the spokes on the wheels just driving it around EPO:lol:.

0.6 mod. i may have some lying around, probably last used on a Tomy. i'll give them to Brian this weekend to pass on to you at your next regional, if i find them.

Hi Ken,

Not sure if you can get 0.5 mod for RC cars, but 0.5 mod is very near to 48dp.

The older Tamiya's had 0.8 mod which is as near as damn it to 32d.p. . Also 64dp is aprox 0.4 mod.

The following site shows how to calculate the dp/mod size and gives a comparison table at the bottom.

Thanks for the info guys
Hopefully I,ll be able to give the car a run at Kiddy curtsey of Simon

ShiftF9er 13-04-2012 09:52 PM

Sorry to get your hopes up Ken but I can't find them. They're either in the bin or in a small servo box with the other bits/cars you had a few years ago, i don't remember exactly.

If i remember correctly the kit one had 17 teeth and was gold in colour.
