Alternative x4 wheels
As above just looking for alternate wheels for the x4. Possibly lazer zx5 fs type?
Any ideas appreciated. |
Ive converted mine to pin drive and i now use cat wheels. :D
d4 wheels fit the front front fine but you have to play with the rears a bit.. |
How did you convert it?
|
I use lazer wheels just have to put a washer on before the nut
|
I have converted mine to pin on the rear,b44 hexes on the front then i can use which ever wheels that way
|
How was the rear pin conversion done,i toyed with the idea and used turned down xx4 rear washers with the standard pin on standard shafts but not sure if this is correct.
the fronts i had to much play in when using b44 hexes, how did you do it? |
I just use a wheel washer and 1 shim on the rear then the pin through the axle,on the front just put the b44 hex on,no play in mine great fit
|
I used some shims and just put a roll pin through it, i did think about using the b44 idea but that meant buying some hexes off a b44.
It does sometimes shear a drive pin which is annoying, i am toying with the idea of using d4 wheels, not sure yet.. |

No its not to wide, you use serrated wheel nuts and cut the axle down
|
D4 wheels fit on the rear perfectly when you use the caster racing s10 hex.
|
i use std wheels

Two reasons I would imagine.
1: most people who have raced for a few years have dozens of pin type wheels so it makes sense to use these for the rear which means the fronts don't match. 2: the kit wheels only come spoked and not only do people tend not to like spokes but they flex too which can cause problems with handling. Just my opinion :) |
Alec is right on bothe counts.
I have a hauler bag full of pin/b44 hex wheels so why waste them The spoked ansmann wheels i found flex way to much, spin them up on the car and watch the shapes they go |
