ive stripped mine

just replace it with the plastic one, the one from ARE1 should also fit although it is a couple of teeth smaller.

I do know they are a pain to mesh, stripped one myself & they are an absolute pain to replace with practically an entire stripdown of the car, but the best way is to refit the spur is to bolt it all back together & fit it rough, then remove the lower wishbone & swing it out of the way so you can get to the motor screws, then use some thick paper or thin card, sandwiching it behind the 2 gears & tighten the screws to mesh it, or the best way fit a larger pinion (1 tooth higher should suffice) if you have one, then set it tight to the motor then remove it & fit the one you want to use that has a tooth less & the mesh should be spot on, provided you don't move the motor.

Tamiya 06 pinions (used on things like TT-01's & M03's etc) are using the same pitch as the Ansmann & buying pinions from Tamiya always come in packs of 2 - you can never buy just one, this works out well as you have a nice lightweight pinion to replace that lump of a pinion Ansmann supply with the car & an oversized one to use to mesh it properly

I found building the car as per the instructions lead to stripping the spur on it's 1st turn as the mesh seems to get tighter as you go on through the build, so it does take some fiddling, as i say fully build the car, then remove the lower wishbone & mesh it that way as i said above & fingers crossed you should not have any more problems with stripped spurs.

tried to find an ansmann replacement but apprently they no longer make them according to one supplier but one for the ARE1 should fit the same? quite new to RC but will give it ago if i can get one as at the moment had to file an cut new grooves to try an make it fit better, probably not the right way to go lol

also is does the front lower suspension arms from the ARE1 fit the smacker as well as managed to snap one one of them too an trying to find that replacement has been quite hard too

Yes rumour has it the people Ansmann used to manufacture the ARE, Master Smacker, Royal flash have gone tits up, so get the parts while you can as those cars will be coming out of the catalogue. Cars like the rat, monkey, X series etc that have come along since use a different manufacturer so are unaffected.

I'm running the ARE spur on mine (mostly as i wanted to drop a couple of teeth) & believe it or not, i'm on my 2nd pinion since changing the spur.

The suspension parts are different, however i believe the ARE2 chassis tub will transfer to the Master Smacker, the ARE1 drivetrain (prop shaft, diffs driveshafts minus the x bar) will all fit as will the tie rods & the steering hubs, the rest is pretty much bespoke using shorter shocks & wishbones.

i dont suppose u have some kind of parts list/website to get parts for it as cant really find parts now for the smacker

Mad-Wolfie 09-04-2012 03:21 PM

i just cant get the parts, i only bought the car second hand but have now decided to get the FTX vantage as just from looking at the spares there seems to b a wide variety to get hold of, dunno if thats a good choice or not but its got the slipper clutch as well which im hoping may help with the spur

depends on who you are dealing with for parts, anyone who has an Ansmann account should be able to get the parts easy - i know at this time of year getting parts generally for everyone is usually tricky as it's near to the start of the tax year & so everyone is stock-taking.

The FTX is a good car, but to be honest i'd consider the rat or blizzard
