Vega RB5 Diff outdrives damaged
 

I'm finding the outdrives are being chewed because the drive pins are just catching the outdrive, especially when the pin is top and bottom position.

I'm using UM521 wishbone, UM522 driveshaft, and UM514/um515 wide hinge pin holders. I've not drilled the additional hole in the rear wishbone for more droop, but I am using the inner hole on the wishbone.

I'm pretty sure if I use the narrow hinge pin holders it will improve the situation, but that would obviously reduce my rear overall width.

Is it a problem that you chew the diff outdrives with wide track hinge pin holders, or should the driveshaft pins engage further in the outdrives, if so how is it done.

From the wheel nut, I use the alloy wheel adapters, 0deg alloy rear hub (spacer between both bearings in rear hub), then the um522 driveshaft.

Overall width at rear is 245mm.

You shouldn't have any problems as long as you don't give too much droop, although one thing you can do to help is put all the axle shims on the inside of the hub. I put in as many as would fit (3 i think), whilst still being able to fit the drive pin on the other side of the hub (only just).

I managed to get a 0.3 and 0.1 on, it does help, but not as good as the FS2. As long as it stops chewing the outdrive I'm happy, looks like it will as the pin is in a bit on the outdrive.

Do you know if it's possible to use the UM510-02 shaft, I'm guessing this along with the 65.5 driveshaft would put the pins further inwards on the diff outdrives. I suspect it would just need a lot more spacers on theaxle first.

I had this problem on my fs2, was advised to put 2-4mm limiter inside the shocks, did this & it sorted the problem :D
From memory i think i have a 2mm limiter inside the shocks on my vega & not had any problems, am running standard sp2 rear end with 0 degree hubs

I appear to have had this problem the other weekend on my FS2 SP and I'm running the blue collar on the inside, outdrives took a hammering by the looks of things, yet my Vega ones are fine :confused:

Running no limiters in either FS2 or Vega. FS2 SP is running standard shocks and Vega is running big bores. I will do as per Kev's advice and add some shims etc as a precaution and to reduce movement.
