It's been trailed since last October, and still not here. It won't run with any of the existing HW software, and you need a special program in the connection box to control it. 150 are due for release next week (that's the third release date going back to the beginning of February!) which are 2S-3S only and the 1S version is not due for months yet.

There is no UK agent as we speak, so if you buy one you have no back-up. There is an HPI version proposed that you will be able to get in the UK but not for some weeks yet, followed by the 1S version after that.

Apart from that it looks great and went well as the TITC!! Getting one might be bit more challenging than one thinks!! Don't hold your breath... ;)

Hobbywing is giving out a limited batch of 150 controllers now, and each distributor will get a limited amount. I am pretty sure by the time any of the distributors have product they will all be sold.

Different software to the Orion R10 Pro or similar?

SlowOne 01-04-2012 08:49 PM

Different. Orion and HW software will be different as they are now. It's more likely that you will be able to actually get an HPI version of the v3 in the UK than the HW version. But don't hold you breath for supplies reaching HPI UK any time soon...

i asked hpi when their new esc will be available in uk and they replied the production model will be released summer 2012.

Big paul 02-04-2012 04:42 PM

I was at robin hood last wed to watch people practice . There was an HPI team member there He said he was trying a new speedo out for hpi but when I ask was it the new hobbywing he changed the subject.

I suspect not as there's a Orion R10 pro 120a which will be the same hardware but different software. The Orion R10 pro 160a will have uprated hardware better FETs etc as Hobbywing don't make a 160a version.

Just take a look at the specs and pictures and how the controllers are programmed :) and you will see what the truth is.

Also the 160A is just a marketing thingy, Orion is well known for over marketing numbers, their batteries is a very good example (you really believe the batteries are 90C?). You can easily see this from the fact that the marketing people forgot to add more burst rating to the 160A esc :)

Hobbywing is building their own brand, they will not let other rebrand their newest flagship product that has set the bar really high for all the other manufacturers.
