Shall we get rid of the Orange pipe.????
If anyone remembers our first Chadderton meetings, the fire hose we used to inflate wasn't very good because the hose was old and had tiny holes so it deflated. Well what about NEW hose? We have a compressor at the track. Winding it up would be so much easier.

What about that more flexible stuff rob got ?

any fire brigade will give you hose for free, it usually has a small rip or tire thats repairable or cut of easily

I used to sell that.
It's expensive for a good reason! Very heavy and very durable - no way anything other than a SHARP edge will damage it.
2 downsides that spring to mind... Once it's unravelled and "inflated" (either by air or water) then it becomes circular and not all that easy to roll up again. This gets worse everytime, and secondly it will be a nightmare to use! Once "inflated" it wants to become perfectly straight and will not (easily) be good for corners.

I know I've only been once, but I didn't think putting the orange pipe away was too much trouble. Its plus points are its very flexible, can take a lot of stick and it doesn't matter if you pierce it... It should last for ever. I agree with Col re the blue pipe, put air or water in and it could do what it wants including ripping pegs out.

So we could have blue letghs for straights with flexy orange corners
Also have you seen how cheadle set out there indoor track with wooden planks joined with wing nuts and coach bolts and half tyres and wooden blocks to join it
It's really effective cars cant jump it but it still flexes and doesnt smash cats up and fast to set up and pack away
Have a look on Stockport mcc website it could combine with what we got quite easily I reckon

Not sure, but something easier to handle than the orange pipe would definitely be a good idea.

If you do decide to change over then I'll be willing to take the orange stuff off you should you be looking to get rid of it?

The weight of this stuff may even be enough to negate the need for pinning it down!

We could even look to get it in colours if possible.. for example (you need to click on the leisure marine pic and then scroll down to the Polysteel - 24mm on the right hand side half way down. The yellow stuff at £1.50 a metre looks a bargain to me).

Hang on a moment Roger, you start a thread asking for ideas on track markings and criticise when you get some. The rope would be of a similar thickness to our current stuff and short of using sleepers all the way round the truck drivers that choose to cut corners Will do, come what may!

Let's hope your new construction is the dogs and can't attract any criticism on Sunday.

I can't honestly see how we can make something that isn't going to damage a buggy, is capable of stopping a rampaging short course truck and isn't too high to see over. Unless we make the track markers out of upright perspex sheets!
