Some of the better photos I got, selected from the 100's I took! What is others' keeper percentage? I definitely got many more keepers later in the day as my technique improved.

You've got some really great shots there, the cars in the air are my fav, the very first picture with the back of a car with all four wheels off the ground, fantastic. And there is another one with the car turning on sand, looks like a manufacturers shot of their new buggy.

When I've shot stuff I think less than a quarter I've taken are really good. I upload what I can so people can see their cars but takes too long editing them all and going through them, you've done better selecting fewer here. They're pin sharp too, what lens was it ?

Great stuff

Thanks for the positive comments, I was pleased with the results. It was the first time I've used my D7000 for anything other than just messing around.

If there are any manufacturers that would like to hire me I would be willing to negotiate a good rate. Or if they prefer, send me a sample car and I'll shoot it for them for free!!

I reckon I've shown about 10% of what I took, possibly less but I was ruthless. I tried to keep the shots that had some sort of action in them rather than just a frozen car (even if it was sharp). Some of the ones I've shown aren't technically good but the action makes up a little for that.

I'm using an inexpensive 55-200 f4.5 - 5.6 DX zoom almost exclusively at the 200 end, cost me just £100 lightly used off eBay, excellent lens for the money. Luckily the day was very sunny and there was lots of light. Even so I had to boost the ISO higher than I originally thought to get a fast enough shutter speed. I started the day at around 1/150th and that was too low, ended up a more like 1/500th or more and stopped down to f8 to get a larger depth of field.

I think a 70-200 f2.8 would have made the focusing faster and meant more keepers, but the good ones might not have been much better.

The sharpness has been helped by reducing the size to around 1MP as well.

for a moment there I thought that belly up DEX410 was mine, but I ran the brass weights all day so it can't of been me :D
