Building a track
Yes. as the title say, we are building a track, does anyone know some site with tips or information on building jumps and such?
|
Probally best thing to think about is the track layout, before you start anything, think of how you want the track, tight and twisty or open and flowing. Work out where everything can go (line, pc loop, race control, etc) then think about jumps. Also try and make a track that is do-able by everyone.

Check out Kidderminsters idea of having "curb islands" and different ways to connect them. Makes for a huge variety of possible track layouts.
We are re-doing our track here in Germany and I spent friday on a roller flattening the whole thing to get a good surface. One of the new things we are doing this year is building all jumps out of wood with nice transitions on the jump faces just like skate ramps to get more height out of a smaller jump. |

Thx! It's in Oslo, Norway. In between mountains, deep in the forest... (watch out for Trolls!)
Just wait... we're expanding it now, it will get a new feature called "The Cliff"... http://www.ymr.no/utvidelse.htm Here are some videos: http://www.ymr.no/bilder/Lars&SHY/4N...NMrunde2wd.wmv http://www.ymr.no/bilder/Lars&SHY/20KroningMai.wmv http://www.ymr.no/bilder/Lars&SHY/B4Bukta_0002.wmv 2006, before the renovation: http://www.ymr.no/bilder/Lars&SHY/Bu...1_10_Oslo2.AVI We got the idea from the Vienna track, and just made it bigger (3,5 meters tall). We also built it like a real skateboard ramp, it's perfectly circular. And 90 degrees at the top! Before putting on the barriers you could floor it, go sky high, and land back down onto the ramp! Btw Jimmy, I think you'll enjoy this... http://www.ymr.no/historie.htm;) |
wow!!!!! the cliff thing looks cool!
