Core RC LiPo

Well I'm looking at the Core RC 5000mAh lipo.

Had a search through here but not a lot mentioned. What are peoples experience and thoughts with the Core packs?

Also does anyone know who actually makes the cells, and what C rating they are?

Thanks!

They look exactly like the GM/Graupner pack, which I've been told is made up with Kokam cells. If it is the same then it has a 20C rating and Graupner says you can charge at 2C (10A!!!!), although I admit I chickened out of giving it that :)

I drove them in a B4 on carpet and the power was mental. The car came out of corners as though it had been kicked. After about 20min running hard with a 5.5 the Lipo was barely warm.

I was well impressed with it!

Mark - I did look at trakpower. I have some flightpower cells in planes and they are seriously top notch. However MK Racing doesn't sell trakpower, hence I was looking at Core-RC. I'm after the CAT SX so core would mean I could get both in one order from same company. Thanks for the advice though.

Sparrow - Thanks for the info. Exactly what I needed to hear. I'm now sure they will be good enough for racing at my level!

I have 2 Trakpower 4900 bricks in my B4 and 2 Core RC 3250 lipo slim packs for my Durga. The Core packs only weigh 200g compared to the 260g of the Trakpower (weighed on our kitchen scales) and will do 2 heats and a practice session running a 5.5 brushless.

The ace thing about them is the case has moulded lugs on one side so they will fit into the cell trays on a TC chassis if you want to run one of those as well as a buggy.

I also know a few people have had Trakpowers swell up and the one I saw frightened the crap out of me. I haven't personally had a problem with them but I also always charge with the Trakpower V-balancer in line with my charger so maybe that prevents swelling.

will only swell if over charged or over discharged, ive had many packs with zero problems

Have you looked at the Orion 3600 pack? 25c discharge, lightweight, standard 6 cell size and kokam cells.

After using LIPO at Southport I can see me ordering one very soon :)
