Servo saver problems. :(
 

Hi everyone, I have bought my x6 second hand and since having it i have been convinced that its been under steering, I had tried servos and different set ups to no joy! So today i asked one of my local club drivers to do a heat with my car to get a second opinion, It turns out my thoughts were nearly right, The servo saver actually seems to be doing its job too well as it was straightening up under heavy load and basically doing what the hell it wanted but on closer inspection it appears that its as tight as can be.

Im wondering if any body else has had the same problem and if so can any one shed any light on how to fix it as there seems to be nothing broken or loose.

Change the spring to the hard associated ft one, or lock it up completely.

Ok thanks ill have a play with it, I dont really want to lock it up but i have a play.

You could always shim it to make it a bit tighter

I believe some people glue togeater the B4 servo saver, for the reason you describe. Alot of 2wd cars don't have servo savers now.

Had the same problem. Car felt very lazy and just under steered. I glued it up and the car was fine

its sounding like glue is going to be the way forward! i just prefer to have one that works to be honest. im going to give the mentioned options a go first. Thanks for the help :thumbsup:

You could always get an alloy one; I glued the plastic one to prevent this happening from day one but a big crash saw it break :cry:

I got a gpm alloy one from eBay and had zero problems since. You just need to use the alloy bell cranks, the rest of the kit is garbage! Use the original b4/x6 parts to complete and you should be sorted.

You could just use a few drops of glue on the plastic servo saver. It should be stiffer but if you have a big off you may still get some protection.

Thanks for the input i like the sound of shiny alloy :D but in the mean time a couple of drops of super sounds like a tempo fix. Ill give it a go and see what happens thanks people. :thumbsup:

A little bit of glue is the most economic way to do it, if you are lucky the glue will crack in a crash and will still 'save' your servo. Well, that's a theory.

Easy tiger, I run those on my car ;-) As Toby says only use the bellcranks and not the rack or bushings as the play they leave is incredible.

I used to glue it but broke the plastic bell cranks. Had alloy 2 years+ and with a decent metal geared servo (Savox) I've never had an issue.

ohhhh shiny blue ones :drool: ive put a couple of drops of glue on for the time being and it works a treat ill get myself a new steering kit tho as i prefer to have a servo saver just incase!

You really want to be running the heavy duty spring from team associated at minimum. Some racers will also put a dab of super glue between the two plastic pieces to eliminate the saver. There are also aluminum bel cranks available from avid and gpm. These options all depend on skill level.
