Why are they not penalised for driving on the track with a shredded/blown tyre front or rear?

The cars should be put into safe mode or similar to limit speed, less than pit lane speed limit and keep of the racing line. If the tyre shreds they should be 'BLACK FLAGGED' on safety grounds, for them and the risk to others re debris on the track from the tyre.

Or, put them in 1960 Morris Minors where they can't do anyone any damage!!! It's motor racing, its dangerous, they are big boys. They have instantaneous communication with their pits and the team spotters all around the track. They have race control to tell them what is going on and the sort of skill and reactions we can only imagine.

It's wrapped them in enough cotton wool as it is, if we are going to try and legislate for every possible eventuality it will become impossible to get a complete race. Leave it alone and let the teams and drivers sort it out.

So it's going to take a marshall to go onto the track retreive a lump of tyre and be struck by a car and killled or a following car/driver is struck by a lump of tyre like Massa but this time dies from impact before they act?

They know the dangers, and to be honest putting a car into "safe mode" would be even more dangerous. even a motorway has a minimum speed limit for a reason.

a marshall retreiving the rubber is why they have double yellow flags.

Or two car have a small brush with each other, leave a small shard of CF on the track which punctures a tyre and the car goes off at high speed taking others with it. Or spears off the track at low speed into a couple of marshals dealing with a beached car. Or...

Motor racing is dangerous. If you don't like what they do don't watch it. But as the person who is always giving the thumbs up to MotoGP and its support races on here, which has killed more people in the last five years than F1 has in the previous 20, perhaps we should ban motorbike racing before we worry about a few pieces of rubber or CF on a car race-track?

If safety is your primary concern, at least keep a sense of perspective and start with the most dangerous motorsport of all.

Charlie Whiting is the man who decides if it safe enough to carry on racing if debris is on the track. He would have sent the saftey car out if he thought is was a danger. Throughout the race you see bits of CF from bumps and you would hate it if every time a bit fell off a car the safety car was deployed and held up the race.
I sure marshalls cant take it on themseleves to run on the track to clear anything. They have radio's and act on instructions from race control.

No. There is no legal minimum speed limit on motorways but try driving at 30 or 40mph and see how fast the poice will pull you over for inconsiderate driving.

Depends on how busy they are. Think they are too busy chasing sheep in your area!
