Ok, I'll not bore everyone with the 'I'm considering a Durga' monologue, but I have noticed a few hop-ups by 3Racing... nice spangly Blue alloy towers/dampers etc....

Any good? Or best avoided?

DCM knows more than me as I've limited experience with them where as he's all over that stuff :lol: I think the quality can sometimes be a little low, but then some things are quite good. I had a couple of things for some of my previous Tamiyas and they spanned the range of nice/naff

From earlier posts I gather the dampers are pants for racing. Not sure if the towers work with the (excellent) Tamiya Hop-Up dampers, I think they are too low and cause the dogbones to fall out.

The dampers are something I'd seriously not bother with - no experience with them other than what I've read.. BUT other than looks, it seems a bit pointless. If you want to get performance then the Tamiya hopups and the ones they are based upon (AE B4) are the only way to consider. Then you can use setups form others and get the car going very well.
The other stuff I'm not sure about, I'm not a big fan of adding alloy all over the car like hubs etc - if you are breaking kit ones or there's a reason to swap (different settings available) then sure. The towers look good and the hinge pin braces / holders look great.

I've just put the 3Racing shock towers and alloy suspension mounts on my car and I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of these items.

From what I've read, any 3Racing hop-up which involves moving parts, such as driveshafts, shocks, steering bellcranks etc can suffer from a lack of quality, but their non-moving parts are ok.

I did notice that the shock towers mimic the kit towers in terms of shock mounting positions - so you will need some internal limiters in the rear shocks to limit droop if you use 501x shocks. The towers do however offer an additional camber link mounting point for more tuning options.

For alloy hub carriers, I'd probably suggest sticking with the Tamiya items.

i would avoid the 3racing shocks, but the UJ's and other parts seem to be top notch and bottom price. well worth the money

If your looking for a bit of Bling for yer Durga / TRF, have a look at parts from "YEAH Racing".

I have recently fitted Front & Rear Arms, Front & Rear Hub carriers and Front & Rear Suspension mounts to my Durga.

No difference in handling, obviously stronger and they look pretty cool!.

i agree, yeah racing are good too :thumbsup:

to be blunt, Yeah Racing and 3Racing, where they design a part to replace something like a caster block or steering part, they are crap, the shocks will just leave you soooo frustrated, too little pack and over sprung.

The parts like suspension holders and shock towers are really good though.

Driveshafts, if you can afford the little extra, buy the tamiys stuff, it is easier to rebuild and just stronger, if you can't afford them, and only can affors the 3Racing/Yeah Racing stuff, get it, strip them down, degrease the whole lot, let it dry, reassemble, threadlock the grub screw and make sure it is tight, and sparingly apply Tamiya Anti-Wear grease to the moving parts.

i have-to disagree about Tamiya UJ's.

i had some tamiya UJ's on my M-03R and they chewed themselves up, i used 3racing ones, and they lasted much longer.
It was the same with the rear axels.

I agree about the shocks, bite the bullet and get some TRF ones. Or associated ones.

must be a specific mo3m issue, mine are 2 years old in the TA05

Cool, so def stump the extra for the TRF tamiya shocks? I already put on the suspension mounts, and shock towers... those parts all seems right good replacements.... I don't mind some bling, I'm just keen to make the car as strong as possible.

Is Stella the best place to source the Yeah Racing stuff?

Based on the measurements I took a while back, I don't think that AE ones will fit. B4 and B44 ones are both too long.

B44 are longer I think? B4 ones are the same length as 501X shocks.

easiest thing to remember, if 3Racing or Yeah racing make a direct replacement part, like steering rack or c-hubs, they will be exactly the same as the plastic part but in alloy and the same amount of slop. If they actualy desing a part original, their stuff is good.
