Embedding youtube videos

Does anyone know if there is a way to embed youtube videos so they run in the post or has it not been implemented in this vBulletin?

I tried the following:

None of these seemed to work, so I was wondering what I was missing or whether Jimmy doesn't allow it???

I believe the admin (jimmy) has to activate it

test - icon to add youtube (ONLY) videos is at the top now. Don't say I never do anything for you

Anything else you'd like to see let me know - but I don't have a lot of time for stuff and don't like to clutter the forum up with madness either - but this is a cool feature that I didn't think of.

Yippee

Cheers Jimmy!

I should say - please keep it to RC related stuff in the forum unless its in the 'playroom' - and then please don't post stuff that will give people nightmares or cause offense as I don't want to upset anyone!

One day we might be able to setup a 'subscribers / members only' area where you can go mental if you want. :woot:

Jimmy, how will this effect page loading times? My connection at work is slower than dial up and can take minutes to load a page with loads of pics already. Not great when you only get 30mins for lunch to enjoy oople anyway :(

Worth bearing in mind that not everybody has super fast access, I know you limit the size of pics etc so are doing what you can. I only ask as I have no idea about these sort of thing!!

As long as you dont hit the play button it shouldnt really affect the loading time much since the actual video is loaded after you press play :)

jimmy 03-04-2008 09:05 AM

yep without playing it all it's really displaying is a fairly small image from the youtube site - no big overheads.:)

What about a videos section so you can go to it to veiw or post videos and it keeps them all together..:)

Neil..

Cool, good to know. Still took 3 minutes for this page to load at work though!!!!!

lol, sounds like he works in the far plains of africa.
where a man on a camel comes and delivers his internet.

RogerM 03-04-2008 05:15 PM

LOL ... no I work for a world leading automotive components manufacturer ..... with a 10 meg link into the site!!!!

That is fine normally but at lunchtime EVERYBODY is on the net (at least 50% looking for a new job no doubt!!) so the net goes very slow (there are about 500 plus people on site at any one time). So assuming 50% of them have lunch the same time I do and 50% of those go on line that is 0.08 meg per person :(

b4rs 03-04-2008 05:30 PM

sounds exactly same as my school

ben 04-04-2008 02:08 PM

oople is fast at my school :woot::thumbsup:
