Do narrow Schumacher front tires fit losi 22 ok?

Hi, do the narrow schumacher mini spikes fit the losi 22 front wheels ok or do they need the wide ones ?

Also what will the difference in handleing be between the wide fronts and narrow fronts.

Thanks...

I mount 2WD slim front minispikes over the full 22 front rim with 2WD front inserts,

only ever used yellow minispikes on very wet grass and even then had to cut every other spike off inner and outer rows as they had too much bite with the 22 having lots of steering by design!

4WD fronts on a 2WD will be far too much grip and with the sidewall flex/squish there will be very vague steering

I'm with Frecklychimp on this one. 4WD minispikes are a no-no (although they will fit the wheel). 2WD minispikes will fit the standard rim with no problems - likewise the newer Schumacher cut-stagger.
If you use the old Schumacher stagger rib, you'll want to remove the inner rib from the wheel to narrow it.

I run 2WD minispike outdoors but will definitely trim the outer row of spikes off when using yellows with my mid car - although I can get away with full width yellows on the rear-motor car on grass. Greens you want full width everytime.

We have been running narrow or wide schumi tires on the 22 rims as well as the proline 22 rims, with the stagger cuts we have mounted them narrow and wide, with the narrow staggers we mount them narrow. not many of my local racers narrow the rim for narrow tires though

Gnarly: Do you really think its nessary to cut off the un needed with of the wide 22 wheel when running stagger ribs? I don think the inner rim will contact the racing surface?

Not strictly necessary - and leaving the excess on like you do at least enables you to re-use the rim afterwards if you want to fit a wider tyre but definitely looks better trimmed down.

And looking good has got to be worth 0.5s per lap:thumbsup:

I have found that if you don't cut down the wheel it can catch on really bumpy tracks and make the handling a little eratic as the edge of the wheel digs in harder than the tire.

Then again I prefer the feel of the cut staggers which fit the full width of the tire fine, or cutting inner and outer spikes off mini spikes rather than using the older stagger rib.
