I have noticed rather a lot of s411's for sale on here, and I was wondering your reasons for selling up ?

Is it spares availability ?
Team driver support ?
Any other reasons ?

Ive got a inclin that its due to how difficult to get setup up right, a good friend of mine has got one and after 4 meetings its still being a pain to get right. I believe that the car out of the box isn't quite drivable :lol: anyway after some spring changes and setup changes I believe the car could be pretty good,

I had a round using the car last meeting and it was a handful to drive but what I can say is if you can set it up right it would be very Fast ( I would probably have one if it was going at the right price :lol:) anyone wishing to swap for a 416x give me a nod HAhaha

I think all it needs is a few more drivers running it and supplying good setup infomation to the rest of the country and the car could be a hit, the build quality is simply beautiful and it looks very very nice.

Anyway I hope a few more guys post with there experience.

Just wait until you hit the outdoor tracks with it, it's AWESOME on tarmac !

Yes the car does take a little work to get working on carpet, but as Chris said on Tarmac it is awesome, what I will do is get Chris kerswells setup from the last ardent winter series and post it on here .

Yea just been racing on carpet with it and its a low to medium grip track, he tried Kris's setup but it didn't feel right he said the rear was just all over the place, what diff oil are you guys running. he has been using 1200 but I'm thinking he may need higher?

I would try thinner oil ? Maybe 800 this will help. I haven't really had much experience with the car indoors. Is he planning on doing any nationals or the btcc ? If so get him to come over and either me Chris or mark will take a look of he's struggling

Also what chassi used ? 2, 2.25 of 2.5 mm ? I was running the same setup as Chris but with a 2.5 and the car was too stiff

Hey cheers for the reply, no he doesnt do much racing outdoor so no nationals I'm afraid. He is running the 2.25mm chassis, I'll get him to try the oil and see how he gets on.

I have raced low and medium grip carpet tracks with my S411. On low grip I use 40wt AE shockoil on geardiff and 60wt on medium grip tracks. I tested 2,5mm and 2,25mm lowerdecks on carpet. 2,5 was bit quicker, but 2,25 was easier to drive.

In my experience so far the car just doesn't generate any real traction in low grip conditions. Running on carpet at Ardent it seems ok, but at the EWS where the grip is much lower it just doesn't work for me at all. I can't even look at the throttle without the back moving around - which I absolutely hate. Annoyingly, not a single setup change I've tried makes the slightest bit of difference when the grip is low. At Ardent I can feel the effects of a setup change, but at the EWS or when the grip is low the car does what it wants and nothing makes the slightest bit of difference.

I've not tried it on tarmac yet, although I'm not sure I really want to at the moment... I'm giving serious consideration to going back to a BD5 for this season.

Although I'm not too clued up with what's available for this car anymore as I never got a chance to race it dut to Uni commitments, here are a few suggestions.

What wishbones are you running? If your not already I would suggest running the stiffest ones available. IF you are running the flexy ones from the kit then they will have less traction due to them taking pressure off of the tyre, a stiff wishbone will make the tyres work therefore finding you more traction.

Chassis? 2.5, 2.25 or 2mm?

Geardiff, what oil? And how many planet gears are you running? I would suggest, 4 planet gears , 2000 oil as a decent base. However it might be in your best interest to even buy the ball diff to go back to basics for low grip.

Obviously without any setup information i'm just guessing here, but i've seen the car go on low grip carpet without too much bother, admitidly it still needed work, but it had good traction atleast.

BD5 is a great car only thing that lets them down is parts availabilty.

if experience with other makes of car counts, try a ball diff, adjust so its loose and just slipping a tiny bit on hard acceleration, can help take away the kick that upsets the back end of the car. my old xray was awful when i tried a gear diff at our club but goes well with a ball diff, we do run on very low grip tarmac though
