Esc help!!!!

Hi I've just put new longer wires on my speed passion gt2.1 pro stock. Well for the motor any way. And it's stopped working, a red light comes on but that's it the fan has stopped going, the light on my receiver comes on but very dim and the servo does nothing.

Any ideas? Hoping I haven't fried it

Have you plugged the receiver wire in backwards into the receiver?

Cory01 12-03-2012 07:13 PM

I don't think so it's a spektrum receiver and I plugged it in negative to the outside and pos to te inside ( same as my tamiya esc )

Ahh, should be black/brown to the outside, red in the middle, white/orange to the inside of the reciever.

It sounds like the RX is pulsing which is normally a sign of the RX wires being mixed up.

?

I'm assuming you are using a brushless sensored motor.

Have you plugged the sensor cable in?

Well check all connections and ther fine. I think it must be internal as the esc fan has stopped working. Really hope it's not fried. Can they be fixed of they are?

1) check for breaks in all the cables
2) try re binding your transmitter and reciever
3) check that the battery isn't flat

Trasmitter and receiver are fine. Battery is fully charged. Can't find any obvious loose connections either it's not looking good.

Sounds almost definately like a short on those wires.

What AWG is the new wire?
Im assuming its the standard CORE-RC style stuff with lots of filaments.
If so, then one of the filament strands may have touched the other pins. The filament may have burned off so thats why you cant see it now.

Not definate that it is, so dont panic yet.

Did you stick the ESC on a voltmeter with the "connection buzzer" setting after soldering it all up? (ie. to make sure there were no shorts)

Hi it was 14awg speed passion wire I put on (same as what was on) I'll make sure nothing is touching again. Seams to be power to the receiver that's the problem although I didn't touch the power side of it :S

Fair point. Maybe this isnt the case then. (which is good, cause if a short has taken it out, it could be scrap!)

I run a SP GT2.0 so not totally familair with the 2.1 but I know they are very similar.
Just a thought, but have you tried going into setup mode on the ESC when turning it on - does this work as expected?
