|
Be down about 12 but don't expect much painting to be happening today!
|
Did you manage to get anything done?
|
Sort of.
Darren has a big list of jobs we plan on doing, so by the start of the outdoor season things will look a bit different at the track, with further improvements planned as well. The track itself just needs a little grasskiller on it as the odd bit is poking through, but actually it doesn't matter. Its held up well over the winter. Access though is terrible, and for the time being all parking will need to be on the main carpark. Quite how we'll handle pitting remains to be seen as the ground around the track is pretty swampy. The council are aware and we've asked for a proper all weather parking surface. So no changes yet but lots planned and agreed. |
We also found out that roger squeaks when he walks!!!

Had a ride to the track today to test my car. Looks in pretty good condition. It seemed a bit bumpier than last year, maybe the astro has settled more over winter. Still, if anything that's an improvement and markes it a bit more technical. Ground around the track is VERY soft still.
The little bits of grass coming through dont bother my buggy at all, so i'd be inclined to leave it as it is. |
got some paint samples on that astro . looks pretty good and hard wearing .
so we can get marking when we do some work next on the track |
When are we going outdoors.... Got a big itch that needs scratching
|
weve got a rostron and track that needs painting and ajump to build yet and other possible alterations if funds for materisls and willing workers are available
when is the next track work day ? and how is the negotiations going about some hard standing as i no there is still lots of work going on next to the track and its still a muddy building site so we could be a while off anything decent going down and its gonna turn into a real swamp with 20 to 40 people trekking around the track and cabins on race day and we will probly have to pit in our cars but at least the track drains well and we will have some extra features on it at some point this year |
Darren says there is a meeting with the council to discuss needs re-access etc in a couple of weeks.
He's also got the junior footballs to let us hire the clubhouse for the regionals. When I last looked in there there were rooms we could use for indoor pitting as well as a kitchen and a lounge. |
Preliminary plans around track

Ignore the moved containers, they will not be moved from where they currently are. This is what the council have sent me today. I have responded at my disappointment at not utilising the significant amount of, what will now be, yet more grassed area between the new building and our track. That will not even be used by footballers. I have suggested that they at least consider extending the "grass rings" standing down the side of the track around the existing containers, which would give us quite a bit more parking. I will be looking to get an idea of what this may cost from the council, as it may be an idea for the club to debate whether we could subsidise in some way. Of course doing it now would be considerably cheaper than when all the fencing etc is erected. As Simon has said, I will be meeting with the council at some point in the next week or so to try and persuade them to go a little further with their plans. I will also be meeting with the three other clubs to improve relationships an also to discuss event dates etc, such as the regional meetings, where the football club have already agreed to hire out their clubhouse. Details to be discussed and agreed but i do think a significant move to help sort the obvious parking issues. This is at this stage an option and not booked and will be subject to confirmation by the club committee. Expected completion date for ground works is actually the end of April so time is of the essence. Darren |
