Stadium Trucks

Just out of curiosity, does any one know why stadium trucks havnt kicked off?

I would prefer to run these than Short Course.

Theres a few of us at Cov that have now got them ready - i think at the moment there are a lot of 1/10 clubs not running outdoor as it seems to be indoor season but i know at the next MAM at Cov they will run a truck class.

I'm trying to get people interetsed in running mainly trucks on a Thursday evening at Cov when they start running Thursdays again as its all about having fun in the evening and trucks dont need loads of setup changes to just plonk down and race (tyres last longer as well!)

The SCT class has given birth to a growing interest in truck racing and running a truck for more fun based racing.

The launch of the TLR 22T has added interest as there hasn't really been any other new stadium trucks for a fair few years.

West Bridgeford club had a growing heat during last summer, Broxtowe club have had a busy heat at their outdoor winter championship rounds so the class is growing.

A few of us at A1 Racing Club are trying to launch the class as we already have a big SCT following and it's growing!

They will be run in support at SCT National rounds this year so hopefully there will be many racers like yourself that are interested in stadium trucks rather than sct's.

I love racing short course but am really looking forward to using my 22T in anger.

Telstar holds Stadium Truck heats when theres enough of us, otherwise we join short course. I really enjoy my buggy, however the truck is great fun, easy to drive and tough as hell so run both whenever i get the chance

The problem with trucks (stadium and short course) is that they are a good, fun class, but are only ever that - a fun class.
Interest in them seems to go in cycles. A few people get them to run as a second class, others get them too to join in and it gets quite popular. Then a big buggy race/series comes up and the trucks are quietly forgotten about as the buggy becomes serious again. With virtually nobody running trucks as their primary class, support fades and the class dies.
Its happened on and off for stadiums over the years, now for shortcourse too, even had a phase of 1/8th electrics which did the same.

I hope short course doesn't, having raced for some 28years I have seen some good classes come and go, I have to agree most people will race this as a second class however I am now running 1/10 4wd as my second class as I just love the fun element of short course, in my case its probably due to people I race with which are all very experienced pro/team drivers and it reminds us of the good old days
