glow plug advice
I've just purchased a new Argus A52 engine and JP4 pipe.
The whole glow plug thing is a bit confusing. Can someone advise which glow plug type is best to go for? Do I need a different glow plug for different weather conditions? |
I've run these engines for a year or so now and run Orion turbo plugs in mine.
I know many people also run OS P3 plugs, but the Orion is cheaper, and in my opinion, a better plug (I've never blown one). I would typically run the Orion No.6, but with the cold weather we've had the last couple of months, I found the Orion No.5 was slightly better as it glows a bit hotter. Turbo plugs have a tapered bottom, for a better seal to the combustion chamber, whereas a standard plug is square bottomed. With plug numbering, the lower the number the hotter the glow. Hotter plugs (lower numbers) are used in cooler conditions and vice versa. |
Thanks MCP. much appreciated.
