Looking at visiting/joining

Hi guys,

Im looking at coming along to a meet or 2 ive watched some videos and looks like fun

Im just wondering what the rules are regarding motors/batterys and if you have to be a brca member to come as a visitor or member?

I have currently have a mamba max 5700 motor/esc combo and Zippy 5000 3S lipo.

Would i need 2s? is there an approved list of batterys or are any acceptable?
Is this motor allowed? any restrictions on motors?

I see race evenings are Thursday during winter, are there any practise sessions to get used to the track?

Ive never raced before just bashed. So this is all new to me.

Many thanks for the help, Jake

any 1/10th off road buggy or short course(if we have 4 or more for a heat) goes. 2wd or 4wd......
2 cell Lipos, 7.4v. any lipos OK as club meetings dont need to be brca legal. motor, anything really, brushed, brushless fast or slow.....
Lipos MUST be charged in a lipo sack!
Winter is thursday evening, its the only evening we set the track up so no other evenings, sorry.... After march we will be outside on a new Astro track, more info to follow. Most likely will be summer tuesday evenings and sundays......
All new racers, young or old are welcome at SHRCCC! See you there, doors open from 6.30pm.............

Great!
Thanks for the reply
I might pop down to apex and pickup a cheap 2s lipo so i can come along and give it ago.

Ive been looking at the Traxxas Slash for Shortcourse so i might be getting one of those in the future, but having 7 models already makes it harder and harder to justify buying another :D

Hope to see you all soon!

pop down any thursday, have a look and see what we all run/use and that will give you an idea whats best to get, Apex will be happy to help, see Dean in there, hes one of our club racers and a thoroughly nice bloke!

Jake

What happened on Thursday night?

You were driving really well in the first to hits then had a motor issue and you went home?

Anything major?

Jake109 19-02-2012 03:29 PM

No nothing Major, just needed some changes to my setup to be worth running round the track
Pinion kept coming off but just a dodgy grub screw

I need some new front tyres, a faster servo and some extra weight up front as i could barely turn round the corners without trying to make it slide a bit.
1 Rear shock leaked and lost all the oil so im going to rebuild them all.

And need to get myself another brushless ESC, the brushed 12T motor was rubbish no punch even with gearing really low.

Once i get myself up to spec now i know what i need for track racing ill pop back and give it another go.

The traxxas bandit isnt really a competitive racer but ill give it a good go.
Maybe if it dosent work out ill buy a second hand known good racer.

I am just about to put a couple of Cars, Brushless motors and Speed controllers in the For Sale forum that might be of interest?!!

Dudders 19-02-2012 04:24 PM

You guys need to speak, also Andy, speak with Tartman, he's into a bit of buying and selling at present if Jake isnt interested

Neil

Jake109 19-02-2012 06:21 PM

Ive ordered a new ESC, Servo and some front tyres ill see how they go and go from there :)

TARTMAN 19-02-2012 10:10 PM

hmm

Told you it was the grub screw, The silly little things will often stop you racing, but remember, just ask mate, were all happy to lend a hand etc to keep you racing if we can.....
You would be amazed what we can do to keep you there for the whole race meeting...........
Yes, the car you have is not exactly going to win some top races, but fine for club stuff and even when you do decide to upgrade the car, all your new electrics will just swap over.....Stick with it!!

see you thursday mate!

thats a shame, but see you soon mate. outdoors, well, depends on the time it takes to build our new awsome astro track with lots of features and air.... Myself and Neil along with our great "committee" of SHRCCC racers will make sure its done as soon as possible..
All will be posted on here when we have a date for the move back outdoors! Looking forward to it!!!!!!!!
