Mad rat and x2

Can anybody explain the difference between the 2 models, the only difference I can see is a turnbuckle set and clear shell

the mad rat is one of the RTR cars and the motor is over the rear wheels, its still a good car, how ever the X2C is part of the pro range and the motor is mid mount and is best suited for racing

Main feature differences are,the x2 has pro shocks,ballraces,turnbuckles,clear shell,the material of the x2 is different to the rat,where as the rat is plastic i think the x2 is supposed to be carbon graphite.

Cant remember which shop possibly JE are doing the x2 for £99,for that money its the better buy as you wont need to buy any extra's

The mad rat is the entry level model the x2 is the more race spec, the x2 comes with alloy shocks,turnbuckles and i think was meant to be better quality plastics. Both are rear mounted motor

The newer version is the mad monkey and the x2c with the x2c being the more race spec again both of these are mid motor.

I looked at the monkey and x2c but they take saddle packs and I run sticks

Andyp 11-02-2012 11:22 AM

I recon the monkey will take a stick but the x2c is saddles only.

i was a little misleading when i said the newer models are the monkey and x2c witch they are, but i think all 4 are current models

The monkey is stick pack layout,you will still need bearing set,turnbuckles and pro shocks on it to bring it up to spec.

Also a shell off concept racing as the kit shell is brital and poor quality

As has been said, shocks are threaded alloy rather than plastic and the X also comes with ball races. The monkey comes with a set of tyres whereas the x2 doesn't (not that they are worth much from a racers perspective).

The Mad Monkey is stick pack layout (although you can run it with saddles).

The Mad Monkey with some used alloy shocks and a ball race set makes a decent set-up for not much money. If you are buying new shocks though, it doesn't make sense as you are close to the cost of a x2c.

Or if you really wanted to, you could go the other way and get an x2c and change the chassis, battery strap and shell to make it stick pack layout. (if you wanted to do this I might be interested in buying your x2c bits to make our monkey into an x2c layout).

The shells on the monkey and rat aren't very durable in my experience.

monkey = stick
x2c = saddle

So what's the cheapest way I could convert my rat into a x2?

Robbiejuk 11-02-2012 04:58 PM

Well if you ignore the different plastics and I know you already have a bearing set all you would need to get is the turnbuckles set and the alloy bodies and the tops that go with them.

monkey takes stick or saddle pack.:thumbsup:

Hi
i was in the same predicament however i got a x2c and brought a monkey chassis and put the chassis on the two x2c ends on it the only mod need is a little notch cut out to clear the spur and eric (concept Racing) makes a good mad x2c shell as the monkey chassis is wider.

Hpi_guy 11-02-2012 06:26 PM

I might just get some shocks and turnbuckles
