Wheelspin Models

What a joke, I called Wheelspin Models on Monday to order some inserts, I was informed that they had none in the shop but had some stock in the warehouse. I told them I needed them for Sunday, the guy says if you order them today and select next day delivery, then I would have them by the end of the week. I received an email today telling me that they had been dispatched, I thought happy days. Then about 10 minutes ago I got another email from the courier telling me that the items wont be delivered till monday. WTF? I'm not happy and I will be phoning them first thing in the morning to let them know. I paid for next day delivery but on checking with the courier, Wheelspin have it as a 48hr delivery? Is it any wonder so many people shop from abroad now when shops like Wheelspin are ripping you off!:mad::mad:

:mad:100% agree i purchased some wheels and tyres from another shop on a thursday they turned up on the following tuesday :eh?: abroad is now a faster option and cheaper people go on about keeping it to your local model shop and i agree but if you are getting service like this what do you do

matthew 09-02-2012 06:46 PM

Just let them know your not happy and I'm sure they will sort something out, don't let something like turn you to shopping over seas we need shops in the uk, we have already lost one of the best around (mk racing) and it is probably down to people doing exactly that 👎

h0m3sy 09-02-2012 06:59 PM

I always do shop from within the UK, just so happens that the good shops that I would normally use, didn't have what I was after. This led me to try Wheelspin Models, needless to say I wont be ordering from them again.

When you phone them keep it polite but firm, I'm sure you know how to play it. I've used Wheelspin a few times and service has always been bang on so maybe you got someone who has fat thumbs and they mis-keyed the courier option. We are after all human and each of us can make a mistake. I also wonder if you may have been better speaking to Wheelspin before posting on here, just to keep it professional? What if it's the Couriers BS'ing you because they can't keep to the delivery schedule? Just a thought.

Agree about contacting the model shop and being polite, but also if you have paid for next day delivery i would expect to be fully reinbursed any delivery charges levied due to breach of contract!

May well be a case of human error and I would have called them if I had recieved the e-mail before they had closed for the day. Hopefully they will realise their mistake and rectify the situation somehow. Still going to be too late for this weekends racing though. Hate being f**ked about.

umm...is it not the courier you need to contact as it's them that has told you the delivery date and not wheelspin.

Bear in mind the weather conditions etc atm, dunno about you but I'm under over a foot of snow.

I don't see why I should have to phone anyone apart from the shop in question, after all, they are the ones that took my money, not the courier company.

DCM 09-02-2012 08:14 PM

Well, yes, your first port of call is the shop, but unless they know, they can't possibly refund you the money for paying for next day, as they will then have to claim that back off the courier to.

But as has been said above, there is the possibility of major road chaos tonight/tomorrow.

jukeboxman 09-02-2012 08:55 PM

I think when certain shops say they have stock in 'their warehouse' or 'other shops' it means they will be relying on the main distributor doing a 'dropshipment' direct drom their stores.

You ring shop X, they don't have the product but accept the order and take the payment. Shop X then contacts distributor Y and they send direct to you.....if they have it in stock themselves. They have to rely on their courier service collecting from them before close of business - and to be fair, if your location is as you say in N. Ireland, it's not exactly up the road is it?

Your issue is with the shop that took your money as they made the contract to supply by accepting money.

matthew 09-02-2012 08:56 PM

Yes definitaly call the shop and let them deal with it, at the end of the day you payed for next and if there was a problem the courier company should of got back to the shop, then the shop could of let you know so you could of decided what you wanted to do

ive personally found wheelspin to be terrible!
Ive had many orders, but i dont think ive ever had any real communication from them. They dont seem to hold any stock, its all shadow stock, and have never had anything arrive in the time frame that i have paid for.
I even had one bottle of shock oil turn up 3 months after i had ordered it, and totally forgot about it lol.

In fairness, i have always eventually got what i ordered from them.

But if the OP ha paid for next day, and they have put it on 48hr then thats a pish take. nothing short of eBay tactics

s22jgs 09-02-2012 09:18 PM

in fact, i meant to say..... if it takes them more than a few hours to get stock from the warehouse then they shouldnt offer a "next day" service

matthew 09-02-2012 10:49 PM

Best bet is to just use JE-Spares they offer a top servise never had a problem with them and everything that's in stock you will recieve it next day

carlin 10-02-2012 08:51 AM

lol wheelspin don't own a warehouse, that's there excuse that once you place the order they will then contact the Distributors and order the parts required for the sale ;)

I have to agree with Matthew.... JE are awesome... If you need parts in a hurry, just call up and speak to Nick or Stu... If you emphasize the fact you need them by a certain time they will walk over hot coals to get it there in time.... And if your really lucky you get some Haribo in your delivery aswell:thumbsup:

Ive ordered plenty of things from Wheelspin and they have always been very good on delivery. I think though with any online shop etc you'll always have one bad episode, just a shame you happened to have yours on the first try.

gazhillAE 10-02-2012 09:57 AM

Never had any issues with wheelspin they have more stock, better stock and seem to deliver a lot quicker than any other shop.

There website is easy to use and covers every part also unlike others!

Big fan

Called Wheelspin this morning, was a different guy I spoke to, couldn't be more apologetic. A full refund has been offered if I return the items unopened. The reason for the delay he said, was because I'm in N. Ireland, I don't buy this for a minute because I've ordered from various shops on the mainland and the stuff has been here the next day, 2 days at most. In saying that, they have offered to resolve my problem by way of a refund, so not a total loss. I paid £23.30 to Wheelspin for 2 sets of rear inserts with next day delivery, this was on Monday, it will infact be 1 whole week before I get them. Just be aware if ordering from them.
