Fivemiletown - Saturday 10th March - Round 4
Ok!...who's coming out west for the last Round.
Would be helpful if we had a rough idea of the numbers so we can sort out tables etc for pitting. Cheers..... |
Will there be much point attending with a 2WD car??
|
Unfortunately, I definately wont be there, Jim
Im sure it will be a great days racing though, and I hope to get across to finally race at FiveMileTown soon. :) |
rnd 4
I plan to be there. And 2wd on polished wood is the ultimate class to demonstrate your car control.

It'll be even more fun in the mod class - Will White had a 6.5T in his CR2 last year and was quick enough to have put his 2wd on the podium...in the 4wd class! However, the floor needs a thorough clean, there's oil on it - it was undrivable last time I was there. Hope to have a 4wd ready for tomorrow night. |
I've put a 2wd within 2 laps of the 4wd pole time, they are surprisingly quick on polished wood, just a bit harder to drive!

I will be there Jim, is it ok if I come by your place again and I can follow you down? If not can you send me the proper address for the place and I can put it in the Sat-Nav. Cheers.

To clear things up about tyres, this is what is allowed and not allowed....
Control Tyres: Controlled rear tyre only: Schumacher Mini-spike or Schumacher Full Spike (also known as 4x20 spikes) Any compound permitted. Schumacher Minipins are not permitted at these events. |
The orginal rules state schumacher mini spikes or full spikes. Only type not allowed are the mini pin.

Beat me to it Dave. :)

Hi all,
Really looking forward to this. I ran Full spikes (4 x 20) spikes on my 4wd last year and minispikes on the 2wd. Both are permitted for use on the driven wheels as per the rules. I think that 1/2 worn minispikes are probably the best tyre and everyone should have a set of those from the other rounds of the championship. In 2wd I used a Schumacher old type stagger rib and they worked well enough. The trick to 2wd is to drive like a granny and try and maintain as much grip as possible - if you push too hard the car will break way and spin out. So just take it easy and tip around following the racing line. Back off the slipper clutch and turn the punch and drag brakes down on your speed controller. Be really gentle on the throttle, don't jab at it. Remember that pumping the throttle will always be slower than a smooth action, no matter what the surface - so be slow and smooth. Hope you all have a great day!! |
Possibly going with 2 & 4wd and Alan in 2wd (clubman class)
Need more info on wood floor set up ? |
Can anyone provide GPS coordinates for SatNav?
MiCk B. :-) |
Think the postcode is BT75 0QS Mick if thats any help. Just checked it on Google Earth and it dosen't look right so if anyone has the correct details for the venue it would be appreciated.
