About time they did somthing, first car was dredfull in all but the best hands:woot:. it will have to be a vast improvement to regain most club drivers confidence in the car. I hope its better I loved the look of the cougar, indoors I liked it and a british firm:thumbsup:. but got fed up with the constant spend and I never had the hours needed to get it set up:bored:......

Out of curiousity, was it Jonathan Clark that came up with the original S2 layout? If so, then the Centro, Sventro and Vega are all copies (the former being somewhat more official as Jonathan was involved).

Most of the 4wds and touring cars use more or less the same layout, it appears we've arrived at a similar point in 2wd mid-motor development. Nothing wrong with that, that's how it goes.

I will say this should be a very good car - Tom Cockerill was lightning quick with his prototype, though he had a Centro and Vega on his tail much of the way.

Main concerns are the turnbuckles and diff, hope they sort those out.

wezzer 02-02-2012 09:17 AM

dont get me wrong , i think it will be a great car  and there are only so many lay outs you can find in a 2wd mid motor car. its all good !

spud31 02-02-2012 09:30 AM

Wait for the 22 version lmao :o:o

mattybucks 02-02-2012 09:53 AM

I've just got off the phone to Schumacher, estimated release date 2-3 weeks. RRP for the Pro kit £259.99, although our price will be £245.99.

As soon as I get a more accurate release date i'll let you know.

The diff has been updated to HD, similar to the SX3 diffs. This should remove the majority of problems people had with the SV diff, as it did with the Sx2 > Sx3 diffs.

Gaz, I'd love to know which ideas we have copied, that haven't previously been tried by Schumacher. I'd also like to point out that as Schumacher are credited with making the ball diff, does that not mean every car that has one has copied Schumacher?

At the end of the day the original concept of mid motor car wasnt it orginally started by Ellis and Kevin Lee? i do believe a few years ago kevin was running a modified XXX-CR that he made mid motor himself because i found Kevins original shell in my shed the other day and also remember Kevin running it at Stotfold.

mattybucks 02-02-2012 11:42 AM

What were the old Cougar Chassis made out of........metal

The emergence of Mid Motor was around 2005/2006 from memory.

Fozzie 02-02-2012 11:53 AM

FAB 2000? Based on a Cougar??

MattW 02-02-2012 11:59 AM

Fact allert - there are very few entirely new ideas / concepts that we see in model cars these days. Mid motor is a long way from new, first one I saw I think was a version of the Cougar 2, and that must have been somewhere around 1992/1993 ish - and that had an alloy chassis as well ;)
