mikeyscott 01-02-2012 10:07 AM

Motors can be added any time through out the year providing they are submitted for approval by the importer. It's just batteries that have to be submitted before 31st Dec. (think that's the date)

I'll be running in regionals this year so need cells from that list. When I checked the price of most of the saddles on there, I was horrified at the cost, typically £80+ per set. Vampire, to their credit, are a bit better, and we know DMS sell them, but running 2 classes would need minimum 2 sets, and more comfortably, 3, so approaching £200 even then! Intellect are well regarded, but there's still the risk of hitting customs.

I'll be getting the Gens Ace saddles (shipped from Europe), as €30 a set sounds a lot better! They're popular cells with flyers, and quality seems fine.

I'm just glad there are now such options for us paupers.

Makes sense as they can be tested etc before the list is published in January. 31st Dec would make that a bit tight

Wonder were these will be retailed in the UK?

2.1 Before any item is added to an homologation list, the BRCA Electric Board Homologation Officer will need to be satisfied that any new Motor or Battery submitted for approval, has originated from a recognised distributor and will be available for purchase via. a UK outlet.
So why can't the BRCA include the 'recognised distributor' on the list so we can ask them who's retailing the batteries/motors in the UK?

Not sure on the gens ace saddles but the stick packs are sold in the uk by giantcod.co.uk

I'll be buying the sticks for the 210.

Bit of a slap in the face to the UK shops if there isn't a solid recognised distributor.

If they weren't so keen (I mean more the distributors, I know how crappy margins can be in retail) to charge the maximum allowable under BRCA rules, I would stay local. I have no job and am a part-time student, I can't afford anything more.

Vinster 01-02-2012 09:59 PM

not even available yet

X20 motors have only just been announced dont think you can buy them yet.

There are "many" batteries on ther that dont have a UK distributor at present, butt his seesm to have been the case since LIPO's, motors on the other hand can only gone on the lists if there is a distributor who can verify their supply...

Dont assume that all distributors make a fortune, we are one of the few business's that are invloved in both (retail store and distribution) and I can confirm that I wish we made the margins on some items in wholesale as we do in retial, they may not be huge, but they are often far more than the distributor makes.........

We have had the X20 motors in stock for the last 9 days now since last Monday - 23rd (and some of the other shops out there are showing stock now too) so they are about.

There are still several new motors for 2012 to be added to the list's I believe
