This is not a moan just a query

I have just finished building the 210, all in all not a bad build. My only complaint is that the shock spring retainer is a loose fit on the shock body thread and it does not have an O ring fitted, thus making it possible for the retainer to work its way loose.(very likely) Now whats odd is that the 410 came with the alloy version with O ring as standard kit as does most other kits. Bit of a "pull your pants down" moment i feel.
Has anyone else had an issue or have they just bought the option part ?

Other than that its all gravy :)

It's been done to cut costs obviously, although I've not had an issue with mine.
They are pretty tight. The only issue I had which to be honest is nothing major, is I had one of the shock leek a little from the bottom seal.

All in all it's a great car for the money! Hell it's cheaper than a B4!

Have you tried messing up the threads on the collars a little? That's what I did - you can use a scalpel or a driver or something like that - it'll make it tighter on the shock bodies and stop it moving on its own.

cheers guys for the tips, Defo not a moan it seems a great car. Just a bit disappointed they should charge a bit more and add them into the new batch of kits. I ave yet to run the car so this could all for nothing lol
I have ordered the option parts for what they cost saves messing up the threads on the shock bodies.
As i say all seems good apart from that. I had one of the very first 410s when they first came out and this car has had a much warmer reception thus far. I have always thought Durango a good quality manufacturer.
I always build my shocks with green slime grease, cake the O rings in it first helps seal the bottom of the shock :)

Is there a alu shock collar that fits with the shock collar orings on the BB?

What part number is it?

rc10fan 23-01-2012 07:03 AM

On Durangos website they list a BB shock collar (Color black)and O rings they are listed under option parts
Hope that helps

BUt it doesn't say if they are alu or not and use the orings

rc10fan 23-01-2012 07:22 AM

No but as they are in option parts you would assume they are. To be honest I don't mind if they are plastic as long as they work.

muratti 23-01-2012 08:19 AM

They are aluminium and work perfect.

I have just changed mine to the part numbers listed above and it has cured the problems.

Although I now have an issue with the lower spring seat popping out of the rear !

rc10fan 23-01-2012 09:59 AM

I still beleave they should inc these alloy seats in the new kits even if they charge the extra

Big G 23-01-2012 10:42 AM

can't say I've had any problems with the plastic ones personally.

pop a tiny weeny drop of tread lock on there if you want to stop them moving easily.

Hi,

I have used the composite collars since I got my kit in October and have not had a problem with them adjusting in use.

Jimmy mentioned that you can score across the threads in the collar to give them more resistance, I didn't do this when I built mine and I have not had an issue.
