SP esc's from HK

Hi

Seen a new Speed Passion -1/10 GT - Pro Brushless ESC Version 2.0 on ebay from HK (I know, I know, sorry) for only £77 inc. postage. Thats a massive £75+ cheaper than from UK shops

Ok - cons that I know of:

1. Possible customs hit - what's the likelyhood?
2. Feeling guilty about not buying UK - but is £75 cheaper!!!!

Are there other cons i.e. if it breaks, can I send it back to someone in the UK like Schumacher as its a "proper" SP product?

Opinions please

Are hobbywing not the same units at a lot less money from uk suppliers ?.

Somehow I doubt it. If it didn't come in via them I'd be surprised if they'd have any interest in a faulty unit.

Just had a look my self there are some very cheap examples there.

Could well be fake, there have been a lot of HW fakes on ebay, maybe they've ditched that for SP stuff instead. From what I've read HW have got quite hot on chasing down people selling fake ESC's. You know what they say if a deal sounds to good to be true......

I ordered 2 motors and an LPF ESC, came to £120 altogether and no customs charges.

To be fair to the UK Speed Passion distributor, SP branded stuff is normally a premium price from HK. These are exceptionally low prices.

My guess is that this is older stock that the HK distributor/owner of Speed Passion is getting rid of. I can't personally vouch for the authenticity but judging by the parts the seller in question is offering, I doubt they are fakes.

Must be about time for a v3.0 SP unit to emerge - their website is already showing new motors...

That Solaris dude on rc tech reckons end of Feb for the Reventon.

From their home page...

Nothing behind the slideshow yet though.

The MMM motors are not "that" new. 6 months old or thereabouts.
