My Lazer ZX5... Can anyone id & value it?

Hi,
I am thinking of thinning out so I can spend more on my 2wd efforts this year and depending on what its worth, my Lazer might go up for sale...

Can anyone give me a guide as to what exact model it is and how much it may be worth?

I'll put some photos up as I think they will help the description.

I bought this used so not sure as its exact model, it has a proline bulldog shell so no clues there!
A bit about the car....it has not been run since I rebuilt the diffs, complete new parts were installed including outdrives gears balls etc front and rear, alluminium shocks (recently serviced and again not been used since I did them) it has a carbon chassis, blue anodised bits here and there, anti roll bars, and a homemade front shock tower (by the look of it!) not sure what else but can answer any questions... a picture tells a thousand words so they say!

Now I've had it out and taken pictures I'm having second thoughts  its a nice car!

That looks like a zx5 SP with aftermarket chassis, motor mount and front shocktower. Losi shocks?
Don't see many of these now so unsure of value... maybe £70?

It's not an SP because of the battery/motor config and the front hub geometry. I would say it's an RTR with some decent upgrades (shocks/chassis etc). But you are probably right about the price or pretty close anyways :D

Thats quite a Hybrid car!!!

It is the readyset motor mount.

Many parts non kyosho Fitted.

I'm going to agree with you, the hubs at the front are not the SP hubs, and the outdrives look like the plastic ones you get with the RTR.

With the plastic outdrives, I'm sure the car won't cope well with higher power motors (I think), I remember when I upgraded my RTR to the SP I had to replace the plastic outdrives because they'd already started to split.

I'm pretty sure as well that I read somewhere that although the carbon chassis looks nice, it's not as rigid as the standard chassis and can effect performance.

All that aside, would be a decent little car for a beginner or someone running a stock (or there abouts) motor.

Chassis does look like the one in my spares box which is the KM one

Wasn't the KM a saddle-pack chassis/conversion?

Could be a 3 racing chassis, seems to be a few 3 racing parts on that car

tisher 18-01-2012 09:26 PM

deffo a 3 racing chassis the car looks like a rtr lazer zx5 losi shocks? 3 racing alloy upgrades very simalir to what I run at the moment but mine runs full metal drive gears out drives cvds etc to take the power
heres a vid of it the other week at bury rc its the luminous yellow bulldog shell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJCkY...2&feature=plcp

price wise not that much i am affraid the 3 racing chassis are not that great and plactic cvds can not take the power and if its got the rtr outdrives which are plastic it would be worth about 50 to 60 quid
hope this helps:thumbsup:

rtr with hop ups

Still racin my Lazer, I have the same chasis or very similar 1, plus the metal shafts and as said it is gr8 for a lower to middle level racer, but is now getting left behind by much better and far more technical buggys, that said I love mine and dont have a spare chasis, so if you do want to sell p.m me:D

What metal gears do you run? Front and rear?

Hi,

As I say I'm not using it at the minute so would be open to a decent offer, I have just rebuilt diffs with new parts inc outdrives, maybe I bought the wrong bits (just searched ebay as I have no manual) as they are plastic but, brand new and built properly!
The cars in good shape and ready to race!

Alan

I was there! 2wd losi xxx red and white shell

Alan Reeves 19-01-2012 08:33 AM

Thanks for the links, I have the same chassis as a spare as the one in the link, and the gearbox looks the same too.
Not sure about the shocks, definitly not the same as my losi xxx ones, they are alluminium but these are filled from the top.
Not sure if I can get a lift yet but if I go to Bury on Sunday I might just bring it!
