Attaching LRP Sphere Fan
 

Hi all,

Am thinking of the fan kit to put on my LRP sphere comp ESC. Can anyone who owns one, or the TC spec which comes with the fan, tell me if it powers by plugging into the receiver, or do you wire it to the actual ESC somehow?

Also, if its the receiver and I have a 2 channel receiver, how would I plug it in (into the third BEC(?) slot?)

i hot wired mine to the red black battery wires of my speedo
this does mean once pluged in the fan is on

Of the two options, I'd hot-wire it to the speedo +/-.

Plugging it into the receiver will use the BEC circuit and could cause volt drop, not good if you run Spektrum or have "Fail-Safe". It might false trip on a low BEC voltage.

Cheers for the help guys! One other thing, would plugging a transponder into the BEC create the same potential issues?

Any extra current draw on the reciever could potentially cause an issue, but fan have the possibility to get jammed and increase their draw.

PT's I would worry so much about.

One way to help, is to run a Spektrum Voltage Regulator..

I'm thinking of switching to Spektrum too, to get a smaller receiver, is voltage drop a common problem? Does it make them failsafe cutoff?
