Air Gap in Tyres

Looking at different sorex inserts and found out they come in three thicknesses which will give different size airgaps in the tyres.

Can someone explain the effect of this and in which applications are the different thicknesses used for?

An air gap in they tyre allows they tyre to heat up quicker, it will also give it a sfter feel and possibly a touch more grip, they can easily over heat though:(
