depends on the track. we race indoors on polished floor with 27t stocks but the track is vwery small and we gear on a 17t pinion but if its a large track im told to start with a 24t

ok im planning to run my zx-5 with a brood co-27 motor. track will be a outdoor large, wide, and smooth (not blown out and rtutted) with a sandy / clay mix surface.

whats the intertnal drive ratio of the ZX-5s and
an appropraite gearing (for a speed based motor)

cheers

Internal ratio is 2.5:1, as for gearing I would probably start with the 17T that niggs98 mentioned above and work up from there.

My limited experience of 4wd buggies with the new generation high-revving stocks is that they are not a good mix! They don't have the torque needed to get a 4wd buggy up and running unless you gear them like a mod.
